At Agora Hideaway, we’re always looking for ways to make your camping experience even better, and we’ve just made an exciting change based on your feedback and our observations.
The communal fire area has officially moved to U-Tree Island! Here’s why we made the switch and what it means for you.
Why Move the Communal Fire to U-Tree Island?
The U-Tree space is one of the many scenic riverfront spots in the campground. Here’s what makes it the perfect new home for the fire area:
The Atmosphere: U-Tree Island is a standout feature of Agora Hideaway. The natural beauty of the U-shaped tree creates a unique, cozy seat, making it a perfect gathering place.
Close to the Water: Many of you love to swim in the river and will need to walk through U-Tree Island. Having the fire and day use area within easy reach, adds to the convenience and charm of your camping experience.
All-Day Shade: U-Tree Island provides excellent shade, making it a comfortable place to relax, chat, and enjoy the river or a campfire throughout the day.
A Smart Change for Solar Access
Since opening, we noticed a challenge for campers staying on U-Tree Island: the lush shade that makes it so inviting also limits the sunlight needed for solar panels. This meant most could only stay in this idyllic spot for a day or two before needing to move to sunnier sites.
By moving the communal fire area to U-Tree Island, we’re maximising use of its natural shade for everyone’s enjoyment. At the same time, we’ve opened up the space where the fire pit used to be, creating more sun-friendly areas for campers who rely on solar power. It’s a win-win!
Unallocated Camping: First In, Best Dressed
For those wondering how this change impacts site selection, don’t worry! Camping at Agora Hideaway is still unallocated, and sites are available on a first in, best dressed basis.
Due to our commitment to maintaining a small and intimate campground, we only accept a limited number of campers at any time. This ensures there’s always plenty of room for everyone to snag a prime spot. Whether it’s by the water, under shady trees, or soaking up the sun, you’ll find a space that suits your needs.
That said, we are listening to your suggestions about introducing allocated sites. It’s something we’ll be looking at in 2025, but for now, the unallocated system continues to work well to provide flexibility and choice.
Check Out the Updated Campsite Map
To help you plan your stay, we’ve updated our Campsite Map to reflect the new communal fire area and the amended day-use section. Take a look and see how the campground is laid out to make the most of your time at Agora Hideaway.
Listening to Your Feedback
This change is another way we’re putting your feedback into action. We want Agora Hideaway to feel like a home away from home—a place where you can truly relax, connect with nature, and enjoy the company of others.
So, next time you visit, gather around the fire on U-Tree Island. Share stories, cook a campfire meal, or simply take in the stunning surroundings. We can’t wait to see you there!
As always, let us know what you think. Your feedback helps us create the ultimate camping experience.
Happy camping,
Chris & Sian
